On Thursday evening in Milan, a seminar was held, organized by KPMG in partnership with WKI, focusing on the role of the AEO (Authorised Economic Operator) — the EU-recognized qualification of responsibility for customs matters, certified by the Italian Customs and Monopolies Agency. The event was followed by a networking gathering dedicated to industry professionals. SLTG was also in attendance, represented by Avv. Dr. Daniele Giacalone (Partner of the firm, Head of Trade & Customs practice in Italy, and EMEA Regional Leader).
The Authorised Economic Operator (AEO) is an economic operator established within the European Union territory and holding an EORI code, who has obtained AEO authorization following an audit by customs authorities. This authorization, valid throughout the EU customs territory, certifies the operator’s reliability and financial soundness.
The AEO authorization offers several benefits depending on the type requested (AEOC or AEOS). AEO status is optional and can be applied for by economic operators involved in customs-related activities such as manufacturers, importers, exporters, warehouse or tax depot managers, carriers, freight forwarders, and other entities operating under customs legislation.
A special thanks goes to Massimo Fabio, Aurora Marrocco, and Antonio Petruzzo, distinguished experts in the field, as well as to Federica Cappelletti, a talented professional from WKI Training School, for their significant contribution to this initiative, demonstrating great expertise and commitment.
This and other initiatives are part of the ongoing journey of our London-based firm — SLTG & Partners, a member firm of the H Advice International Network — following the establishment, post-Brexit, of our new Customs, Excise and VAT Department.
